Wedding videographer · Runa Farm
Runa Farm wedding videographer.
A rustic farm wedding venue in the rolling Durham countryside near Barnard Castle, from the creators of Newton Hall and Le Petit Château. I’ve filmed here. Below is the film, plus honest advice, including the one room where the light can catch people out.

Runa Farm is such a unique venue because you get everything in one place. There’s the outdoors, the haystacks and the open fields to film in when the weather’s kind; there’s a big wheat field round the back that gives you genuinely stunning photos, especially into the evening and at night; there’s a lovely hill; and there’s the garden and the main hall inside. It’s got that proper rustic vibe, and it’s perfect for anyone who wants a soft, light-filled wedding with great friends and even better vibes.
The wheat field is the shot people remember
The big wheat field behind the venue is the standout for film and photography. It’s made for that golden, soft-light look, and it comes into its own in the evening and after dark, which is where Kristy & Jamie’s smoke-bomb celebrations happened. Pair that with the haystacks, the hill and the open fields and you’ve got a full day’s worth of backdrops without ever leaving the farm.
One honest warning: the ceremony-room light
Here’s the bit I’d only ever tell you because I’ve stood in it: the indoor ceremony room has tricky light. It’s not great, it’s harsh, and it’s genuinely hard for an inexperienced photographer or videographer to handle. An experienced one will read it and work with it, no problem, but it’s exactly the kind of room where you find out whether the person you booked has actually filmed a lot of weddings. If you’re marrying indoors at Runa Farm, book someone who’s dealt with harsh, contrasty light before. The garden, the main hall and everything outdoors, on the other hand, are a joy.
The one rule I’ll repeat until you’re sick of it
Whatever time you need to be ready, tell your hair and makeup team an hour earlier than that. They almost always run late, and the time they borrow comes out of your calm morning and your best light. Get ready early, get some music on, and the whole day films better for it.
What it costs, and how I cover it
Runa Farm sits comfortably within my patch, so there are no travel charges. Full-day films from £1,500, ceremony-only from £800, photography from £850, every price published, no “enquire for a quote”. Ask me anything, questions now beat questions on the day.
