The Biscuit Factory is unlike anywhere else you can get married in Newcastle. It’s an independent contemporary art gallery in an old Victorian biscuit warehouse in Ouseburn, exposed beams, brickwork, and original art on every wall. If you love art, you’re welcome here, and that creativity runs right through the day. There’s almost a music to the place; the art gives every frame something to say.

The Garden Room is the one that stops people

The Garden Room is absolutely stunning, and it’s a videographer’s dream. It’s built like a Victorian winter garden: tropical plants, huge palms, trailing vines, skylights pouring daylight in, and an indoor waterfall that gives the room this soft, calm hum. The light in there is just amazing, all natural, all flattering, and the greenery gives you a beautiful, elegant, soft backdrop everywhere you point the camera. There’s such a lovely flow to it, everything feels like nature. It’s a room that has genuinely been designed to make you happy, and it films exactly that way.

Why the light changes how I’d shoot your day

Because the Garden Room is skylit and green rather than dark and formal, the film comes out warm, bright and alive without me having to work against the room, so we lean into it: natural light for the ceremony and the couple moments, the plants and the waterfall as your backdrop, and the wider gallery’s art for something with real character between the big beats. It’s a compact, city venue rather than a sprawling estate, which actually helps, everything is close, the day flows, and nobody spends it walking between rooms.
